A Very Quick Guide to Soffits and Fascias
Contractors who repair soffits know what they’re doing. Likewise, an experienced fascia maintenance company will recognise the signs that lead to exterior property damage. But knowing how to mend soffits – or understanding fascia maintenance techniques – is not a talent that most home owners have. That’s why it’s best to hire an expert!
Perhaps the best place to start is by providing a definition of a soffit and explaining what a fascia is. Recognising the early signs of soffit or fascia damage is important if you want to avoid serious problems later. I must stress the importance, though, of getting a reliable fascia/soffit repair contractor to carry out the work.Recommended home improvement companies are hard to find, but your perseverance will pay off.
Okay. The fascia is a long, horizontal section found at the top of an outside wall and the parts projecting out from the building. Next time you’re outside your house try and find the fascias and soffits using the definitions I provided. You’ll find the fascia board underneath the gutter – typically at the end of the rafters. The soffit is located beneath the fascia, so the two are closely connected.
Don’t worry if you can’t remember this. All you need to do is refer to this article on fascia and soffits!
Expert fascia maintenance contractors aren’t easy to find;likewise, it’s difficult to find decent online soffit repair companies. Still, be careful. You won’t neccessarily recognise the signs of soffit/fascia damage.
The wood around the soffits and fascias is the best place to start.Should you encounter evidence of rot near the fascias orsoffits, seek further advice. Even if you’re not convinced. Early soffit and fascia repair can save you time and money in the long-term. Leaky guttering or damp walls could indicate soffits needing repair or early stages of fascia damage.
If only soffit and fascia tips were easy to summarise here! My recommendation would be get a soffits and fascia survey completed if you think something is wrong. I’d be happy to help. Free home repair advice can be invaluable, after all. If there’s no obvious problems with soffits and fascias, I’ll tell you. But please, contact me if you’re not sure; else you could end up with woodworm in your fascias, or maggots and dry rot in your soffits.

Drain problems can be very disgusting because if water starts to back up, your kitchen and bathroom will surely become very messy and foul-smelling. Molds and bacteria will begin to grow on damp surfaces which can be harmful to your health. To prevent all these awful and unsanitary consequences all you need is to check the septic tank and clean the pumps. Sewer cleaning is the only solution to many drain problems.
There are various methods used to clean and fix sewers but they often need proper sewer cleaning tools. The first step in cleaning the sewer includes the unclogging of drains. Debris must be removed from kitchen sinks, bathtub drains, and toilets to prevent any blockage. You can find many creative tips on how to unclog drains and fix the sewer in many home repair guides. One of these simple tips is to pour hot water down the drain or to use chemical cleaners. The next step is to check the pipes for some leaks caused by cracks. In most instances, it is necessary to patch a leaking pipe or change it if it is broken. The most important step is to clear sewers using sewer cleaning equipment such as pumps, augers, rodding tools, water jetting tools, and camera which is more difficult than just unclogging the sinks and bathtubs or emptying the toilets. In some cases, there is a need for a general sewer repair. Doing the job alone can be filthy and at times it can be tough especially if you do not know how to use the sewer cleaning tools. Also, the methods can be risky and this is one of the reasons why it is more practical to ask the help of a skilled plumber. If you have enough knowledge on plumbing and sewer cleaning then you can certainly save money. However, it is still safer and more practical if you leave the work to professional plumbing technicians because they don’t only clean sewer lines but they also deal with any kind of sewer problems.
Sewer cleaning is really a hassle because it sometimes takes a few days to be completely done but nowadays, there are new methods to clean and quickly fix sewer lines which are not only affordable but are also more convenient. With the latest methods, you can also save time if you get the best and fastest drain and sewer cleaning services. If it is found out that you already need to replace sewers the trenchless sewer method is very efficient as this technique does not need complete digging up of sewer lines. It also ensures the durability of your sewer line since your old pipelines are replaced with pipes made of high density polyethylene and has no joints or connections. This type of material is stronger and long lasting because it’s not easily broken or cracked and it has resistance to rust. In fact, it is an ideal alternative to cast iron sewer pipes.

Some of this information available to you however is a lot better than others, the lower quality information will come in PDF (digital format) only, this might not be ideal for the less technical people like myself, but luckily there is also much better information available, in the form of easy to follow video tutorials, this is much easier to follow, as you can watch the process performed step by step on your computer screen, of someone else fixing an Xbox with the same problem.
The overall process of fixing your Xbox and getting back to your favorite game after you have down loaded the videos is quite quick and easy, it is just a case of removing the outer plastic casing of your Xbox and unscrewing the metal cover under the plastic, (all of this is shown to you in the videos step by step), once inside the Xbox you are then instructed on how to repair the problem, the good thing about this is you don’t require any special tools all you will need is a screwdriver to get in there, then everything else can be done with your fingers.

Your eBay Empire – The Best Things to Sell on eBay
Starting an eBay business may at first seems like an easy task, but when you set out to actually do it you are faced with the first and hardest question you need to answer — “What do I sell?”
Sadly, most people can’t answer this question and soon find their business only existing in their head. Others will grab the first thing they see on sale, buy it up and pray that they can sell it at a profit. Most of these people lose money, and again, their business winds up as just an illusion.
You have to start out on the right track from the very beginning if you want to make a successful career on eBay. Finding the right products to sell is the first step.
First, you need to know what categories are the most popular and profitable. Broadly speaking the best categories of things to sell on eBay are as follows:
Electronics
Clothes
Books
Collectibles
Understanding what segments of those categories will have the most buyers and offer you the best opportunity to make a profit is what will make you successful. Rather than just buying anything in that category, be choosy and only pick the best items in each category. The best things to sell on eBay are often in niche segments within a category.
Electronics: small, portable electronics like iPods, and cell phones, particularly iPhones and BlackBerrys. Items that are easily lost, stolen, broken, etc. and accessories for those products. Computer cables, adapters, and small accessories. Also, refurbished laptops and discounted flat panel monitors.
Clothes: Children’s clothes and discount designer label items (NO KNOCKOFFS!). Unique T-shirts, new or old. Used jeans. Accessories, jewelry, etc.
Books: Niche specific non-fiction and 1st editions. Children’s books in good condition.
Collectibles: Coins, stamps, comic books, sports memorabilia, pretty much anything that can be identified and has a published price guide that is updated yearly.
Where do you get all this stuff?
The obvious first place to look for things to sell on eBay is your garage or attic. You can clear out space for new stock and get valuable experience selling on eBay. One of the most important things you’ll accomplish in this initial phase is the building of your eBay feedback rating. If you try to sell a big ticket item with a feedback score below 25, you’re going to lose money.
Don’t rush this phase, and try to become rich. Your main focus is a high volume of transactions and good customer service. List these first items at a price less than what you think you want for them and when they do sell, ship them out the same day if possible.
Now that your garage is empty and you have feedback rating over 25, it’s time to go shopping. Your first stop should be at your local discount clothing store. Places like Ross or Nordstrom’s Rack sell designer label clothes for a fraction of the retail value.
Only buy women’s clothes. You want basics, something a woman needs frequently for work, or ultra-trendy, something that everyone has to have, but can’t necessarily afford. It’s easier to go with the basics.
Warning : Never try to sell knockoffs on eBay. You will get a lifetime ban. Additionally, they can ban anyone at your address or IP, for life. While eBay itself is not that vigilant on watching out for copyright or trademark infringement, the corporate lawyers are. There are people whose sole job is to surf eBay looking for infringing items and notifying eBay.
Also, never use someone else’s pictures, either from a listing or anywhere on the web. If you didn’t take the picture yourself, someone else holds the copyright. A seller can get you banned from eBay if they report you as using their listing images, or even copying their html or text from a listing.
Garage sales are a good place for children’s clothes. You can often get a discount if you show up early and offer to buy all their children’s clothes at once. Children’s books can easily be found at garage sales to, in varying conditions. It’s possible to find collectibles here too, but they are often overpriced or in very bad condition. Most people have the idea that if it looks old, it must be worth a lot and aren’t very open to negotiating a lower price.
Local thrift stores have a wide selection of children’s clothes and used books, often for pennies on the dollar. Make it a habit to stop by once a week to each one in your area.
You can find things to sell on eBay itself. It takes some work and know-how, but searching for misspelled listings or items listed in the wrong category can often lead to some very good finds.
If you want to sell collectables, make sure it is something that you are actually interested in yourself. If you don’t know the details of that market, it’s easy to lose a lot of money. Buy every relevant price guide for your chosen hobby (on eBay of course), select a niche segment of that market and learn as much as you can about it. This works well if you live in or near a large metropolitan area that will have shops, fairs, and events specific to that collectable market.
With collectables and books, you must be able to speak the language. Each hobby has its own terminology and if you don’t know it, people won’t trust you. Even if you are selling an item at a fair price, if it sounds like you don’t know what you’re talking about – somehow, it seems overpriced and people won’t want to buy from you.
A good place to find your chosen collectibles are at events tailored to that hobby. Most events will have a listing of sellers at the event, along with their specialty. DON’T go to the person who specializes in your particular niche. Try someone who is more interested in the complete opposite. Often they will have items you are looking for and not know the value of them. Sometimes they might over-value the item, but most often, they list it cheap just to get it out of their inventory.
Books can be excellent things to sell on eBay. A good first edition book can be worth a lot of money. Usually they can only be bought from someone who knows what they have, but I have had a lot of luck at discount used book stores and at larger used book fairs. Again, you have to know what you’re looking for and what you’re talking about or you could overpay for something worth only a few dollars.
Non-fiction books in niche markets sell excellent. How-to books will always be sellers. Make sure you don’t go to broad with the categories or you might have too much competition to make a profit. For example: “How to Make an Adirondack chair,” is better than “Woodworking at Home.” Home repair guides, sports training manuals, self-help books, are all good things to sell on eBay. All books should be listed for the longest auction time that you can, or be placed in an eBay store.
A note on selling : Don’t try to squeeze every last cent out of a sale. Leave a little bit on the table so that the buyer has a good feeling about their purchase and in turn, you, the seller. If you build a reputation for quality items at a good price, you’ll have a long future as an eBay seller.
Make sure the buyer feels that they got a great deal. Always try to create a higher perceived value for your items than what you are selling it for. With books, clothes, and some collectibles, putting items in a set and then “discounting” the price will often get you a better profit than trying to sell each item individually.
Wholesale / Drop Shipping
Last but not least, we have the most mysterious method of acquiring things to sell on eBay – Wholesalers. This is how the big boys find things to sell on eBay. If you have enough money and enough storage space you can buy pretty much anything in large quantities at a discount, either direct from the manufacturer or from one of the many middlemen that come between them and their final destination.
This method can be intimidating if you’re not accustomed to wheeling and dealing on the phone, but it is possible. The Los Angeles Harbor brings in just about everything that is bought in the U.S. Most manufacturers have wholesale offices near downtown LA that are open for making deals. You can either meet with them in person, or deal with them over the phone. Clothes, toys, electronics, pretty much anything can be bought from these offices.
If you live in LA, going to the wholesale district in person is a great idea, because often the people working in the office are willing to sell you a very small volume of items at a wholesale price, usually a dozen of any one item, or a box, whatever is easier for them. Sometimes you need a wholesale license (for tax purposes) and sometimes you don’t.
Wholesalers are a great source for electronics, electronic accessories, clothing, and clothing accessories, jewelry, etc.
Warning : Do not buy “wholesale” DVDs, CDs, PC software, etc. 99% of the time it will be counterfeit – And saying “I didn’t know,” won’t protect you if you get caught selling counterfeit goods.
If you don’t live in LA and can’t afford to buy ,000 worth of electronics and keep them in your garage, you still have options. There are smaller wholesale companies, usually a middleman who has contracted with multiple manufacturers, which can offer you a wide selection of items at wholesale prices in small volume. Sometimes they will even be able to ship the item direct to your buyer without you ever having to touch the item. This is called drop shipping.
Drop shipping is one of the best ways to sell electronics on eBay. You make the sale, and they ship the product. If anything is wrong with the item, usually, the
Creating a Home Library
Home libraries are important resources for both you and your children. The reference material can provide quick and easy look-up for questions that come up at the dinner table. Handy references also help during homework periods both because your children learn how to use the material and discover the answers they need for their homework project.
Many people think having a computer with Internet access is the only thing needed to support home resource needs, but actually there are reasons why other resource material can provide an enhanced understanding of the subject matter of interest.
One reason why physical reference material is helpful is that it works whether the electrical power is on or off and can be used even if your computer has crashed yet again. Another reason readily available books and other resource materials can be useful is the physical representation. For example, a globe gives a much better representation of the earth and the location of the continents and oceans than a flat screen. And finally, no matter how good search engines are, sometimes you just do not know the right words to use in the question to get good results. In those cases, it can be easier to locate the information you are looking for by thumbing through a book.
Create a home library which provides an excellent resource for you and your family by including the following items.
A world view. Provide several resources which help one visualize the world. Include a globe, large world map, and an atlas. The globe allows one to see the relationship of one country to another and gives a more accurate picture of the shape of the world in which we live. A world map will have more detail than a globe is able to provide. The atlas will have the most detail and may include information on countries like their population size and make-up and exports. Also a good atlas will include information about topography, vegetation coverage, ocean floors and major currents.
Words, words, and more words. An unabridged dictionary is a critical resource. Aside from looking up the definitions of new words, dictionaries often include special sections with labeled pictures of topics like anatomy, atmospheric and soil layers, boats and ships, insects, mammals, state flowers, solar system, birds, fish, and plants. Large dictionaries also typically include alphabetically listed famous persons with short biographical summaries, geographical listings with areas and population figures, listings of fictional names from stories, mythology, and legends, foreign phrases, scriptural names, abbreviations, practical mathematics, tables of weights and measures, special signs and symbols, listings of prominent members of government; the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States and much more. If you knew only what was in the dictionary, you would be quite a knowledgeable person!
In addition to a dictionary, other references for writing that are very handy include a thesaurus and a style manual.
How do I fix that? Having a home repair guide or a guide to doing anything can help you deal with the inevitable need to repair, maintain, or otherwise fix problems. There are a number of books like this. Look through several and choose the one with instructions you understand.
Subject matter expert. Include books which provide information on your favorite areas of interest. We have over 300 books on gardening in our home library because we enjoy gardening. We use many of these books often as we look up new plant possibilities, identify a pest, research the growth habits of a tree, and so on. Whatever your interests are, you will want to have ready references.
Sit down by the fire with a good book. Include classic stories or favorite books which you will read over and over in your home library. Reading books for enjoyment is the most successful way of maintaining and improving reading skills.
Book Buyer. Have authors and illustrators autograph their books whenever possible. Many bookstores hold book signing events and schools sometimes sponsor author visits which include a book signing. You may wish to maintain a separate collection of signed books as these books can appreciate in value. Your book buying appetite may be larger than your budget. In addition to buying at full price from bookstores and other venders, consider the following optional ways of procuring your tomes. Buy at library sales, second-hand bookstores, and yard sales. Purchase discounted books at book stores and from internet venders. Some recycling collection centers include book trading stations. Trade books with friends and family.
Library Maintenance. Keep only those books which you find yourself turning to again and again. Culling your books every year or so will maintain the freshness of your library and ensure the library fits within the space you have allotted. Dust your books and shelves weekly. Store books flat on the shelf or completely upright. Storing at angles degrades the book’s spine. Vacuum the room thoroughly at least once a week. The glue in book bindings is food for certain types of insects. Vacuuming the carpet and curtains will control these pests.
Books can relax you, invigorate your mind, transport you, and inform you. Creating a home library for you and your family provides a resource which you can use to bring greater understanding and enjoyment of the world around you.
